Since 2002, the Senior Service Network (SSN), a Northern Nevada-based nonprofit organization, has been a lifeline for seniors facing dire financial circumstances. Dedicated to supporting seniors in moments of crisis, SSN provides immediate, one-time financial assistance to help them overcome life-altering challenges.

For many seniors on fixed incomes, even a minor unexpected expense can trigger a financial catastrophe. Picture this: A senior receives an unplanned medical bill that threatens their ability to pay rent, placing them at risk of eviction. Or a heating bill goes unpaid during the frigid winter months, jeopardizing their safety and well-being. These scenarios are not uncommon; they’re the urgent realities SSN addresses every day.

    Critical Needs, Immediate Solutions

SSN steps in when no one else can. The organization provides one-time financial aid for essential needs such as:

    • Rent Assistance: Preventing evictions and ensuring seniors have a safe place to live.
    • Utility Payments: Keeping the heat on during the winter and lights shining in the dark.
    • Medical Expenses: Covering costs for prescription medications, durable medical equipment, and urgent dental or hearing care.
    • Transportation Repairs: Ensuring reliable access to essential services and appointments.

This vital support often makes the difference between stability and a devastating downward spiral of financial hardship.

    A Community Commitment

Thanks to a dedicated team of board members and volunteers, 98% of all funds raised go directly to assisting seniors in need. Administrative costs are kept to a modest 2%, ensuring donations have the maximum impact.

Historically, SSN’s primary source of funding has been the annual Senior Celebration event, raising approximately $20,000 each year. However, the rising costs of living and a dramatic increase in assistance requests, particularly for rent-related support, have created an urgent need for additional community contributions.

    The Power of Your Support

“Your donation has the power to change lives,” says Troy Conant, President of the Senior Service Network. “It means a senior won’t lose their home, a vulnerable neighbor won’t go without heat or power, and someone’s parent or grandparent can regain the stability they desperately need.”

Every dollar contributed helps SSN catch seniors before they fall through the cracks. The organization’s work is more than financial aid; it’s about providing hope and stability during times of crisis.

    Join the Cause

SSN invites individuals, businesses, and organizations to join their mission. Donations can be made online at https://seniorservicenetwork.us/Donate/. Every contribution is tax-deductible and directly supports seniors in Northern Nevada.
